How to wash salon towels / hair towels / barber towels?
1. Temperature Control
Wash in Warm Water: The ideal temperature is between 40°C and 60°C.
2. Detergent Selection
Use Mild Liquid Detergent: Choose a clear, dye-free, and fragrance-free liquid soap.
NO Fabric Softeners: This is the most important rule. Fabric softeners coat the microfibers with a waxy layer, which completely destroys their ability to absorb water.
3. Sorting & Loading
Wash Separately: Never wash microfiber with cotton towels. Cotton sheds lint, and microfiber is designed to trap particles—your salon towels will come out covered in lint that is nearly impossible to remove.
Color Sorting: Wash dark colors (especially black and burgundy) separately for the first few cycles to prevent any minor color bleeding onto lighter towels.
4. Removing Tough Stains (Dyes & Oils)
Pre-Soak: For towels heavily stained with hair color or massage oils, soak them in warm water with a bit of detergent for 30 minutes before running the machine cycle.
Vinegar Rinse: Adding half a cup of white vinegar to the rinse cycle helps break down chemical residues and acts as a natural softener without damaging the fibers.
5. Drying Instructions
Low Heat is Best: Dry on a low heat setting or air dry.
Avoid Over-Drying: Microfiber dries much faster than cotton. Keeping them in a hot dryer for too long creates static and can damage the "hook" shape of the fibers that makes them so absorbent.
